A Great First Day

What a wonderful start to our trip. The Shinkansen ride was smooth, and before we knew it we were In Yokohama. Our friendly guide Ms. Shirai met us on the platform and we dropped off our luggage at the super-luxurious Royal Park Hotel. We had time for a leisurely lunch and even a bit of shopping before we walked to the nearby UN World Food Program headquarters. There we received an interesting lecture from a staff member and did a short workshop. The lecturer was quite impressed with our students' presentations. 

We went back to our hotel and unpacked, freshened up, and went to dinner at Cafe Tosca in the Yokohama Bay Hotel. It was a buffet centered around Hokkaido cuisine and it was simply delicious. Now we are back in our rooms, relaxing and enjoying the awesome night view. 

I might add another entry or two tonight just to show you some more pictures.



私たちの旅の素晴らしいスタートです。新幹線の旅はスムーズで、いつの間にか横浜に到着していました。親切な添乗員の白井さんがホームで出迎えてくれて、ロイヤルパークホテルに荷物を預けました。昼食とショッピングを楽しんだ後、近くの国連世界食糧計画（WFP）本部へ。そこで興味深いレクチャーを受け、短いワークショップを行いました。講師の先生は、私たちのプレゼンテーションにとても感心していました。

ホテルに戻り、荷物を解き、少しゆっくりして、横浜ベイホテル内のカフェトスカで夕食をとりました。北海道料理を中心としたビュッフェで、夕食を楽しみました。今、部屋に戻ってリラックスしながら、素晴らしい夜景を楽しんでいます。

Kamakura and Cup Noodle!

 Our full day was a really splendid one. The weather was just perfect. We woke up and had a great breakfast at the buffet restaurant at the top of the hotel; the view was spectacular. Then it was off to Kamakura, which is always a fun day trip. The girls really enjoyed riding the small nostalgic train that goes toward Enoshima. We checked out the big Buddha and prayed at the shrine, then split up for lunch and did a little shopping. Then we went to the cup noodle museum, which was really quite impressive. Momofuku Ando really was a genius. The girls had a great time decorating and making their own cup of instant noodles. Then we took the short trip to Chinatown and had yet another mouthwatering meal. All in all it was definitely a memorable day. 天気にも恵まれ、本当に素晴らしい一日でした。朝起きて、ホテルの最上階にあるビュッフェレストランで素晴らしい朝食をとりました。その後は鎌倉へ。道中ふくめてずっと楽しい日帰り旅行となりました。江ノ島方面に向かう小さなノスタルジックな列車に乗るのをとても楽しんでいました。大仏を見たり、神社でお祈りをしたりした後、分かれてランチを食べ、少し買い物もしました。その後、カップヌードルミュージアムに行きましたが、ここも本当に良かったです。安藤百福氏は本当にすばらしい。生徒たちはデコレーショ...

We’re Off!

And on a beautiful early spring day we're off to Yokohama, Kamakura, and all kinds of adventures. Wish us luck. Everyone was on time and super-excited. We'll talk to you later today.  お天気にも恵まれ、横浜、鎌倉などに向けて、これから旅立ちます。皆さま、すてきな旅行となるようにお祈りください。みんな時間通りに来て、とても盛り上がっています。ではまた後ほど報告します。
